NANDAN

Nandan, West Bengal Film Centre, was inaugurated on September 2,1985. Ever since its inception, Nandan has been instrumental in upholding its mandate of becoming a film centre par excellence for the discerning cine-lovers not only of this city, but also of the entire Eastern India. Over the years, it has flourished in to a cultural hub for the cineastes of Kolkata.

This film centre screens quality movies, holds film appreciation courses, arranges workshops, runs a library with latest publications in the field of cinema. Publications of Nandan add considerably to its academic endeavors. Nandan has three auditoria having capacities of (I) 931 (II) 200 (III) 100 numbers of seats respectively.

Nandan- IV auditorium is exclusively used for seminars and press conferences. Exhibitions are organized on the foyer in front of Nandan-II auditorium.

Film societies and other organizations striving for growth and appreciation of quality cinema are given best of the facilities for their presentations at Nandan. Nandan also runs quality commercial movies for its discerning audience. It is not the mediocrity, but the class that Nandan disseminates.

The Film Centre organizes Memorial lectures and holds retrospectives of films on a regular basis.

It is also a prime venue of Kolkata Film Festival, an annual international event.

The stage is set for the 13 th Kolkata Film Festival to be held from November 10 to 17,2007. The Kolkata Film Festival has a site, namely, www.calfilmfestival.org.
