The Government of W.B. maintain three Information Bureaux outside West Bengal. The Information Bureaux also known as Information & Cultural Centres are based at New Delhi, Chennai and Agartala. The first and foremost duty of these Bureaux are to supply information and data related to the State of W.B. to the local people and journalists. Besides, other functions like protocol duties, show of documentary films, helping candidates of competitive examination, organising exhibitions, seminars, melas, cultural functions are also carried out. The Information Bureau, New Delhi renders yeoman's service in the organising of India International Trade Fair held every year. The Chennai Bureau, besides its normal activities, organised an exhibition on communal Harmony. The Agartala Bureau has organised Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti, Banga Sanskriti Utsav, and an exhibition of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose through poster sets. Besides these, a six day long festival, Banga Sanskriti Utsav, is held in Mumbai every year with the help and co-operation of local organisations. Eminent singers, mimes other artistes and theatre units usually take part in festival.
