The rural wing of the Information Directorate strives to reach the people with information and data about success achieved by the State Government through the offices in the District, sub-division and the Field workers at the Block Level. The main thrust of the rural wing is to maintain greater liaison with the three-tier panchayets and the municipal bodies to make the administration more participative and to function as a two-way communicator - to propagate the message of Government to the people through various media such as hoarding, campaign, advertisement, posters, leaflets and audio-visual media like as projector, T.V, V.C.P/V.C.D and to apprise the Government of the feed back from the masses as well. The rural wing also works for fostering various cultural and creative activities including folk and tribal culture in order to check mate the social, cultural decadence and strengthen the communal harmony amongst various communities and as well as to caress the glorious cultural heritage of West Bengal.
